I think this is the most important piece of yours that I have had the pleasure to read. Branding versus imprint. Such an interesting question. I am in marketing, and branding is something we consider a specialty. I never looked at the personal aspect of it quite the way you presented it. I am going to marinate in my own personal imprint and I'm going to take a look at it around the brands we represent. Priceless. Thank you.

Oh, Chris--coming from you, someone I so admire and respect--an expert in branding--a professional--well, this is high praise indeed. Thank you, and thank you for all your words of wisdom on your newsletter. I am fascinated by the question of branding, especially personal branding, because I feel to be branded stops one from evolving, changing. At the very least, it limits us. Suppose I want to take up deep sea diving next week and I want to write about about starfish? Well, my agent would say--no! That's not your brand! Stick with Paris! And she's right, but still, I must admit I chafe under the collar of "brand." I would love to hear your thoughts on personal branding--the pros and cons. I love and respect your ideas so much--more than you could possibly know.

And, I love you,

Jamie

I have read all your work, and reviewed it too. It's not Paris that's the noun in your brand. Paris is an adjective. It's the WAY you look at Paris that is your brand. Your personal take on Paris. And you write here a lot and not always about Paris, but if you took the author's name off your work and put it in front of me, I could tell you it's yours because it's your voice. Don't let her smallness be an excuse to not write about whatever catches your eye... Other than that, I have no opinion. :)
